Well, we have know since we got here last year, that Jr would be deploying again. The unit he came to last April was just arriving back from Iraq in April 2008. They were told they would be home 18 months and deploy again.. well guess what?? Its been 14 months. For the last few months they have been prepping and preparing, and training.. getting ready because they know at the end of the year they will be heading out.
From what we have heard it would be Dec/Jan time frame. JR was telling they were going to have Decemeber off, because they are leaving after the 1st of the year. Well today we got some new news. Jr said the LAST group will be on the ground in Iraq no later then Dec 22..UGH Which means the first groups will be leaving around Thanksgiving. So this year, we are 99% sure jr will not be here for Christmas.
We were worried if he didnt leave till after the beginning of the year, and if they are gone 15-18months, he would end up missing Kendras high school graduation. (leaving Jan/feb 2010 returning a year and a half later would be Jul/aug 2011.. kendra graduates May 2011)
SO now he should be home for her graduation.. but missing out on 2 christmases..

oh how stinky. I am counting down the last months til Rob is home. not terrible now, i can see the end & he'll be home for Thanksgiving this year, but will miss another anniversary. Such is army life.
All units leaving after August 2008 were reduced to 12 month depoloyments....so he should only miss one Christmas, unless his unit is SERIOUSLY jacked up!!
