TODAY!

Today we went to down town Savannah. I took so many pictures I could not decide which ones to post so I made a slide show and am putting it on here :)

Our main goal today was to visit some town squares. The way it is in Savannah, each block has a square. They are little parks. Lots of shade trees, paths and benches. Each square is known for something. In one there is someone buried there. They have a large monument and a rock. My main square we wanted to go to was Wright Square. There is an Oak tree there with no moss hanging from it. It is the only one in Savannah (might be all of GA) that does not have moss hanging from it. Along time ago they used to hang people from that tree. There is a story about a husband and wife who were hung there, but both proclaimed their innocence until their death. So rumor has it, moss will not grow where innocent blood was shed. We found Wright Square, but there were so many trees it was hard to tell which one did not have moss.. and it was not marked..LOL.. so we just took some pics.

We were shocked at the homeless people. I wasnt even thinking about it, because I have not seen any in forever. There were afew men at Wright Square. One guy actually went into the bushes to pee while we were there.

Our next square was where they filmed Forrest Gump sitting and waiting for the bus eating his box of Chocolates. We took a bunch of pictures there too.

We also went into a large Cemetery, and down to the River Street.

On the way home we saw the aftermath of a bad accident. It was in a residental but large traffic area downtown. There was a back end of a car in the island of the road.. then afew car lengths down was the inner section.. there were 3 cars no in the inner section but off to our left of the inner section. 2 cars were SMASHED the whole 1/2 of it.. like 1/2 the car gone! the other car was 1/2 gone also.. not sure HOW that one end of a car got over on the island way over where it was.. but there were an investigation team there and news people taking pictures. JR said he thought there were bodies laying on the side of the road, but I did not see anything. (Will watch the news later).. ok so here is a slide show from today!
